SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT:
Warren H. Hunt, Jr.
Dr. Warren H. Hunt, Jr.Dr. Warren H. Hunt, Jr., is founder and president of Aluminum Consultants Group, Inc. Established in 1996, this company was created to provide total solutions in aluminum materials technology for today's market. His technical emphasis centers on application of aluminum metallurgy and processing knowledge to analyze material performance, improve product quality, and design new aluminum-based materials.

Prior to forming Aluminum Consultants, Dr. Hunt had a successful 19-year career with Alcoa Technical Center, one of the world's largest light metals research laboratories. At Alcoa, he focused on the conceptualization, development, and implementation of new aluminum alloys and metal matrix composites to meet customer needs in a range of markets. Dr. Hunt served as a core competency leader responsible for integrating materials, product design and manufacturing.

The focus of Dr. Hunt's work, whether it be for automotive, aerospace or any other customer requirement, has been successful implementation of R&D results. His efforts have resulted in eight patents in both the alloy and processing fields. He has received recognition for his professional excellence, among them selection as an ASM International Fellow and two IR 100 awards. Dr. Hunt has lectured extensively in the field of advanced aluminum materials, has published more than 35 technical papers, and edited three books.

Dr. Hunt received his BE from Vanderbilt University, and his MS and Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. He serves as an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University.

This interactive component of Technical Questions@TMS has been developed to answer your questions about the processing, fabrication, and applications of metal-matrix composites. It does so by presenting frequently asked questions (and answers, of course), short technical primers, information on learning opportunities (meetings, short courses, etc.), links to significant publications and web sites, and by giving you the opportunity to direct a question to a technical expert and receive an answer via e-mail.
