The recognition of outstanding accomplishments by members of the international minerals, metals, and materials community is one of the primary objectives of TMS. In the society's view, the bestowment of honors and awards is necessary to not only reward distinguished performance by a scientist or engineer but to encourage his or her colleagues to strive toward the same--and perhaps a greater--level of distinction.

• Special Project Proposal: General

The general Special Project Proposal form should be completed and submitted along with suggestions for a new one-time endeavor, sustainable society product, service or member benefit.


• Special Project Proposal: Divisional Fast Track

A Divisional Fast Track Special Project Proposal form should be completed for a one-time division directed endeavor that creates and/or improves a TMS product, service or member benefit. The proposal must be approved and signed by the division chair prior to submission.


• Information Technology Project Proposal Form

A proposal can be submitted from a TMS technical committee by using the IT Project Proposal form. The proposal must have approval from its division council and division chair or from a society administrative committee.
• TMS Strategic Plan

Read the current TMS Strategic Plan.

• Request for TMS Sponsorship of Technical Conference

This form should be submitted to request TMS sponsorship of a technical conference for which TMS would have financial responsibility.


• Request for TMS Co-Sponsorship of Activity (In Name Only)

This form should be submitted to request TMS co-sponsorship, in name only, of an activity. If approved, TMS would co-sponsor on a nonfinancial basis, lend the society’s name to the activity, and promote the activity to membership if appropriate.


• Registration Waiver Form

TMS technical divisions can be a source of financial aid for presenters for partial or full meeting registration fee assistance when individuals are lacking the financial resources to participate in the conference. Aid may also be available when incentive to secure an invited speaker is necessary to assure the success of a symposium. Assistance for the 2006 TMS Annual Meeting is available on a limited basis and requires submission of the Registration Waiver form by a symposium organizer before the stated deadline.

• Book Proposal Form

Individuals considering publication through TMS should complete the book proposal form in addition to as many article abstracts as possible for a project review.

The TMS Young Leader Internship Program enhances the professional development of dynamic young people by helping them participate in TMS activities, become better acquainted with TMS, make important contacts with society leaders and network with prominent society members.
